Here it is. After months of planning, and building excitement, www.myjennycraigblog.co.uk is up and running. And now my thoughts, ideas, excitement and tales of life as a weight management doctor go live! I am delighted to announce my involvement with, and support for, Jenny Craig.

So, a little about me, and this blog. I’m a GP, and obesity specialist, and have been working in my Practice, and in hospital, with patients of all shapes and sizes for more than a decade. I founded the National Obesity Forum in 2000, to make sure doctors and nurses were aware of how important weight management is, the great impact it can have on health and well-being, and to help them develop the skills and tools to help their patients. It’s an area of my work I’m passionate about because it’s really about helping people help themselves, to regain control of their lives, and reap the benefits. Keeping a healthy weight, and an active lifestyle are the two most important things anyone can do to maximise their health and feel well.

I’m delighted to be associated with Jenny Craig because I have found over the years that portion control is vital in the fight to lose weight. Choosing a weight management plan that makes it easier means it’s much more likely to succeed. And the evidence suggests that it does. With the expert help and support of your personal coach Jenny Craig is much more than a diet, it’s a new lifestyle. And I’m pleased to play my small part in making that easier for you.

There are so many things we can do to lose weight and keep it off. Over time I’m going to be sharing with you my tips and techniques that my patients have found helpful. And I’ll share with you too what they have taught me. I’ll make it practical, topical, and meaningful. In short, it should, over time, form a hands-on guide for everyone who’s serious about losing weight – and keeping it off.

Weight management is like a long journey. Some days will be easier than others, some days the load will feel heavier, and some lighter. Some days the sun will shine, and sometimes it will rain. Some parts of the journey will be steeper, and sometimes it will feel as if there’s no end in sight. But like all good journeys, there is a destination, an end-goal in sight, and once you get there, the view will be so worth all the effort.

Every journey begins with a single step. So, please join me. Let’s go………..
