FAQs
Jenny Craig focuses on three key aspects critical for weight loss success: food, body and mind. Depending on which option you have chosen (see options) you’ll get all three aspects together, you’ll get only the food or you’ll get consultation.
If you have chosen the Jenny Craig Programme, when you first get started, your personal Weight Management Coach will work with you to develop a personalised programme to fulfill your goals. Each week, you’ll speak privately with your friendly coach via phone, helping to plan your menu and activities, discuss strategies for overcoming challenges better and, just as importantly, celebrate your successes with you. You’ll order your Jenny Craig meals direct from your coach and receive them right at your door ideally in four-weekly increments. Your personal programme will also include activities tailored to suit your current level of fitness.
If you have chosen Jenny Food, when you first get started, you’ll be sent a range of food as part of our balanced menu plans tailored to your needs. You’ll receive one breakfast, one lunch, one dinner and one snack for every day. This option does not include consultation.
If you have chosen the Jenny Consultation, when you first get started, your personal Weight Management Coach will work with you to develop a personalised programme. Each week, you’ll speak privately with your friendly coach via phone, helping to plan your menu based on different food groups. Your personal programme will also include activities tailored to suit your current level of fitness. This option does not include Jenny Craig food.
The Jenny Craig Programme is developed in consultation with our independent Medical Advisory Board. The members of the Jenny Craig Medical Advisory Board are recognised leaders in the fields of medicine, nutrition, exercise and the psychology of change – all critical components of the Jenny Craig Programme. Each part of the programme is carefully developed through the close working relationship between the medical advisory board and Jenny Craig Programme development team.
At Jenny Craig, we have a number of different plans to meet your individual dietary and lifestyle needs and different budgets.
Our three programmes start with 14 or 28 day options:
- The Jenny Craig Programme – Food, Body, Mind provides your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and your personal, one to one consultation.
- Jenny Food provides your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
- Jenny Consultation provides your weekly consultation.
Our most popular and best value option is the Jenny Craig Programme, where you buy the food and consultation together. Most importantly, this is the option where we have scientific proof: a recent independent clinical trial showed that Jenny Craig clients lost on average three times as much weight as those dieting on their own.
Many Jenny Craig clients say they spend about the same or less on food as before they were following the Jenny Craig Programme so they save on household groceries and spend less ‘on the go’. Just think of that daily cappuccino in the morning, the sandwich and your dessert at lunch or that restaurant with your girlfriends on Friday evening. At the end of the day though, losing one, two stone, well, it’s priceless.
As one client told us, “You know what would really cost a lot? Having a nutritionist, a personal trainer, a chef and a lifestyle coach! I got them all on Jenny Craig! For me, the Jenny Craig Proramme was the inexpensive way of getting the programme and coaching I needed.”
For consistent results we recommend you limit eating out during the first phase of the programme. However our menus allow the flexibility for you to be able to eat at a restaurant and our coaches can support you in having the confidence to make healthy choices. Our Weight Management Guide even has an entire section devoted to eating out.
Jenny Craig meals (lunches and dinners) are prepared using an innovative steaming process before being specially packaged to hold in freshness and flavour ready for delivery to your home. The process we use ensures the best tasting food at an affordable price. In taste tests people have told us that Jenny Craig meals taste better than fresh chilled ready meals.
The aim of Jenny Craig is to help our clients achieve lasting, long term weight loss. If you follow the Jenny Craig Programme you may lose up to two pounds every week, which equals over half a stone in the first four weeks.
Jenny Craig is not about counting calories. It’s about well balanced, great tasting food. Our menus are tailored for each individual client based on their needs and range from 1200 -2300 calories a day for most of our clients. The Jenny Craig Programme (see options) is designed to achieve a safe, healthy rate of weight loss to help ensure long term success. Jenny Craig menus provide great tasting food and portion control – so there’s no need to count points or calories as with some other weight loss plans. We do all the work for you!
In a monthly food package you’ll receive 28 breakfasts, 28 lunches and 28 dinners plus 28 snacks. You’ll find that this will be the majority of the food you need for four weeks. All you need to do is top this up with fresh fruit and vegetables and dairy products to match your meal plan. There might be occasions where you are cooking for yourself or eating out and your personal Weight Management Coach can help provide information and guidance on how best to include these occasions in your plan.
All of your meals are provided in individual portions for maximum convenience and weight loss. All you have to do is add milk (cereals) or heat them in a microwave or on the hob (lunches and dinners). You can add your own fresh fruit and vegetables to complement the meals, which are delivered to your door bi-weekly or each month (see options) in a non-branded cardboard box, so no nosey neighbours can find out why you’re looking so good, unless you want to tell them your secret!
Exercise is integral to the Jenny Craig ‘Food, Body and Mind’ approach, but we’ll ease you into it! During your third week on the programme (see options) you will be encouraged to focus on a more active lifestyle. The activity component of the programme was developed in consultation with the Cooper Institute and encourages clients to gradually increase activity through a combination of natural, planned and “playful” physical activities. Jenny Craig offers a range of tools that can help you to engage in a variety of cardiovascular, resistance and stretching activities. We can also help you to address important barriers such lack of time, ongoing motivation and positive mindset.
Our personal Weight Management Coaches provide you with weekly phone support to help keep you motivated, address challenges and provide the skills and strategies you need to be successful in achieving your weight loss goals. Your personal coach assesses your needs and offers the motivation, advice and support you need as an individual. As one of our clients said: “My personal coach was so encouraging, I don’t think she could have been any more so even if I was meeting her in person. If I had a little trip up, she just encouraged me to keep it together. I really don’t think I could have done it without her.”
Your personal Weight Management Coach can help you to develop a flexible plan to help you to continue on the programme whilst on holiday. As the food products have a good shelf-life and are portable, most people take the food with them when they travel. Having a healthy Jenny Craig snack available will help you to avoid the temptation of high fat snacks on the road!
In order to reach your goal weight we recommend that you eat the foods provided on the Jenny Craig Programme (see options). Once you are halfway to reaching your desired weight, your personal Weight Management Coach can help you to learn how to plan menus that include one or two days of menus using more of your own foods. Once you reach your desired goal weight, your coach will help you to make the transition back to your own foods, seven days a week.
The goal of the programme (see options) is to help you learn not only how to lose weight but how to keep it off, for life. One of the programme’s goals is to help you acquire the tools you need for continuing success focusing on a healthy relationship with food, an active lifestyle and a balanced approach to living. Once you’ve reached your goal weight you can choose to start the Jenny Craig Maintenance Programme. At this point your coach will help you to make the transition from the Jenny Craig menu onto your own foods by teaching you the best way to shop, cook, eat out, stay active and socialise.
Along with balanced, low-calorie food choices and portion control, Jenny Craig emphasises the importance of tuning into physical and emotional eating cues and the pleasure of eating via our menus. Teaching you to be mindful of about what you eat is the first step to making healthier, more satisfying choices.
Absolutely not. Many men join Jenny Craig and achieve great success. The menu plan and all other elements of the programme will be tailored for your individual needs.
Currently we are developing our range of products to offer more variety for vegetarians. We do have some vegetarian-friendly dishes (the Three Bean Chilli is especially good) and soon will be able to offer a full vegetarian menu.
Yes. The programme (see options) is suitable for diabetics that control their diabetes through diet or take oral medication. We always seek medical approval from our clients’ GP before they enrol on the programme if they are diabetic. We gain the GP’s agreement to monitor their diabetes if their patient is taking diabetic oral medication.
